With the arrival of MIUI 12 and the Mi Pilot program, many of you ask us how it can be differentiated if a Xiaomi has the MIUI Global or European version . Whether to manually install an update or to enter My Pilot, it is vital to know which one we have installed.

In view of this, I will explain to you as differences in an easy and simple way how to know what exact version of MIUI we have installed and if it is a Global (MI) , European (EU / EEA) version or on the contrary, a version China (CN) .

Even so, before starting and knowing how there are differences or discovering which version of MIUI we have installed on our Xiaomi, it is essential that we know that there are " two global versions ". To be exact there is a Global, known as «MI» and a European one, in this case «EU»:

  • MIUI Global (MI) : It is the one that comes installed in our Xiaomi if we buy it in a global version outside Europe. For example, if we buy it from China or Latin America. Its nomenclature does differ because it contains the letters «MI».
  • European MIUI (EU) : It is the one that comes installed in our Xiaomi if we buy it in Spain or Europe. Its nomenclature does differ because it contains the letters "EU". It is also known as the EEA version.

In more detail, we could say that the Global version is the one destined for practically all countries in the world (there is also the Indian, Russian, etc. version), while the EU or European version is the one adapted to the regulations and restrictions of Europe .
