WhatsApp with a difference: It smells like a rip-off

How does WhatsApp smell? A crazy question that a perfume manufacturer has now answered. When looking at the packaging of the strange WhatsApp perfume, however, a bad suspicion quickly arises.
WhatsApp is by far the most popular messenger in Germany. According to an analysis by Statista, almost 80 percent of Internet users in Germany use the app. If you can't get enough of WhatsApp away from your cell phone, you're in luck: Now there is also a WhatsApp perfume (source: T-Online).
Indian online shops offer WhatsApp perfume
This comes from perfume manufacturer John Phillips and is offered in an Indian online shop . Both the packaging and the bottle are kept in the typical green of the news service - after all, the WhatsApp perfume must also match the appearance of the messenger. And of course the icon with the telephone receiver in a speech bubble should not be missing.

And what does the WhatsApp perfume smell like? According to the online platform Flipkart, it should be a woody scent that also contains notes of patchouli, white musk or ginger. The WhatsApp perfume is offered there for both men and women. Other sites such as Indiamart (see at Indiamart), however, sell the fragrance as a men's perfume.

Probably not an official product
With a price of the equivalent of 2 to 2.20 euros for the 60 milliliter bottle , the WhatsApp perfume is not too expensive. It is unlikely that WhatsApp parent company Facebook and manufacturer John Phillips worked together to create the perfume. The fragrance is therefore unlikely to be an official product.
The cheap presentation of the packaging and the bottle suggest that the provider with the well-known WhatsApp brand name wants to make a quick euro - or in this case: rupee. A classic case of rip-offs.
