Android smartphone with a special cable: who needs something like that?
Is it meant seriously or maybe it's an early April Fool's joke? Former employees of Essential have founded a new company and want to launch their first Android smartphone. You want to solve a problem using a special cable. Only: The supposed problem is in fact none.
Android smartphones are a dime a dozen. In hardly any branch of information or entertainment electronics is the competitive pressure greater. As a newcomer to the market, you need something special to stand out from the crowd. That's probably what the minds behind OSOM thought too - a startup founded by former Essential employees. But can a cable be this unique selling point?
OSOM smartphone protects against data thieves with a special cable
Ordinary, of course, the cable is not. Rather, it has a special trick: a switch at the end of the plug can be used to set whether only a charging process should take place or whether data should be transferred after all . In connection with the appropriate Android smartphone from OSOM, which is currently under development, this should make a significant contribution to the protection of user data.
What sounds like a very smart feature in theory is unlikely to be used in practice. Because when connecting an Android smartphone to a third-party device , the user is already asked in the software whether he wants to allow data access . The wired solution with the switch may offer a little more convenience and be easier to use. Nevertheless, OSOM leaves the impression that a problem is to be solved here that in fact does not exist at all .
There are many battery myths – we clear them up:
