An important leap forward in almost everything
It is evident, there is practically no trace of the Xiaomi Mi 11 in the new generation of the Xiaomi 12 , from the device's own design to its internal hardware, everything has changed. In fact, if we take a look at its aesthetics, we see how Xiaomi has perfected a finish that already looked very good, but has slightly remodeled the rear camera module and has given the team new colors in pastel tones.
For its front part we also have another important change, and that is none other than moving the selfie camera hole to the central area instead of being placed in the upper left corner , a minor change but one that is obvious. By the way, it continues to maintain a very good use of the panel to the edges, fingerprint sensor under the screen, stereo speakers signed by Harman Kardon and infrared sensor for remote control of other compatible gadgets.
If we go on to talk about their screens, this is undoubtedly one of the great changes between both teams, since in the new generation Xiaomi has chosen to incorporate a much smaller panel than in the Mi 11, leaving both configurations as follows :
- Xiaomi 12: 6.28-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution, refresh rate of up to 120Hz , color depth of up to 12 bits and DisplayMate A+ certification for lower consumption.
Xiaomi Mi 11: 6.81-inch AMOLED panel with WQHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and HDR 10+ compatibility.

We are going to find another important change internally, where both devices have top-level hardware but, as expected, the new Xiaomi 12 goes a little further. This mounts the latest Qualcomm processor, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 compared to the more than solvent Snapdragon 888 of its rival, both with the same RAM memory technologies and storage capacities.
As for the battery, we find only slight changes and that, taking into account the smaller screen size of the new generation, plays very much in its favor. The Xiaomi Mi 11 has a capacity of 4,600 mAh with fast charging up to 55W via cable and 50W wireless charging, while the Xiaomi 12 has a 4,500 mAh capacity with fast charging up to 67W via cable and 30W wireless charging.
Therefore, everything seems to indicate that the Xiaomi 12 is superior both in terms of autonomy and charging compared to its previous generation, thanks in large part to a new lithium cobalt oxide battery that houses a higher energy density in the same size and a smaller size of other elements such as the 5G plate or the VC liquid cooling surface.
Of course, we continue to maintain a somewhat more advanced connectivity pack than the previous generation, but the one incorporated in the Xiaomi Mi 11 is still quite current, as well as at the software level, since both have the latest version of MIUI 13 based on android 12 .
Finally, we have to review the camera configuration of both teams that is slightly different, especially as far as the main sensor is concerned. Yes, it is true that the two phones are still able to record video with a maximum resolution of 8K with their rear camera and Full HD with the selfie camera, but their sensors have been modified, remaining as follows:
Xiaomi 12
- 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with f/1.9 aperture and optical stabilization
- 13MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens with f/2.4 aperture and 123° angle of view
- 5 MP Telemacro sensor with variable focus between 3 and 7 cm with f / 2.4 aperture
- 32 MP selfie camera
Xiaomi Mi 11
- 108 MP main sensor with f/1.85 aperture and optical stabilization
- 12MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens with f/2.4 aperture and 123° angle of view
- 5 MP Telemacro sensor with f/2.4 aperture
- 20 MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture
Similar starting prices, although it rises slightly in the new generation
As we already know, the new Xiaomi 12 has just been presented in Spain with a price that starts at 799.99 euros , so it is not too far from the 749 euros of its previous generation.
It is clear that the Asian firm has improved what we already had in practically all sections and that translates into a slightly higher price, but we believe that the leap forward is worth it and that small extra outlay will be worth it in order to have a rounder experience, although we will always have to bear in mind that change in the size of the product itself.
