{Disarmed} Xiaomi Redmi K40S, mid-range on the outside and a little beast on the inside
Still hungover after the Global launch of the new Xiaomi 12 , the Asian firm has just launched new smartphones from the Redmi K50 series which, as you will remember, began its journey in China with the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition although, interestingly, not all the devices they have presented have the same base name.
In this case we are going to talk about the new Redmi K40S, a team that nobody expected, but that arrives as the cheapest phone presented today, with a design quite similar to that of its brothers in the Redmi K50 series, but with somewhat humbler specifications without implying that we are dealing with an underpowered phone.

Design similar to the Redmi K50, but very different inside
Let his name fool us. The new Redmi K40S has little to do with that range of phones called Redmi K40 that we met last year and that finally ended up reaching the global market under the name of POCO F3 among other similar models.
In this case, we are talking about a terminal that is very similar on an aesthetic level with respect to the new Redmi K50 that have been presented alongside it , with a fairly predominant rear camera module, a very well used front part with a hole in the upper central part of the screen, completely flat edges and a fingerprint sensor located in the unlock button of the equipment.
Taking a look at the screen it mounts, we find a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a configuration that Xiaomi has us quite used to in its latest releases.
And something very similar happens with its internal hardware, where we find a more than reliable Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor along with configurations that can reach 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of storage with UFS 3.1 technology, so the performance of the device indicates that it will not be much less a problem.
Of course, we are in front of a phone compatible with 5G networks and the latest in terms of connectivity, it has a double stereo speaker certified with Dolby Atmos , a VC-type liquid cooling system with a surface of 3112 mm2 and, in addition, a battery 4,500 mAh compatible with fast charging up to 67 W, almost nothing.
Finally, tell you that, as expected, it has the latest version of MIUI 13 based on Android 12 , in addition to a camera configuration that does not stand out too much, but that promises to give sufficient performance for most users for its price, being as follows:
- 48 MP Sony IMX582 main sensor with f/1.79 aperture
- 8MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens with 119° coverage
- 2MP Macro Lens
- 20MP selfie
