Samsung humiliates the competition: No other mobile phone manufacturer can keep up here
Samsung is under pressure: Although the South Koreans can defend their leading position in the smartphone market, the competition never sleeps. Xiaomi and Apple in particular are getting closer. In an important future field, however, there is no way around Samsung.
Samsung can be accused of many things - but a lack of stamina is not one of them. Like hardly any other manufacturer, the industry leader takes on its own weaknesses bit by bit and tries to eliminate them with hard work. The latest example of this determination is the success of foldable phones.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is by far the most successful folding cell phone
The future market is firmly in Samsung's hands: Samsung accounts for 88 percent of all smartphones sold with a flexible screen (source: Omdia). According to market researchers from Omdia, Samsung is also the only manufacturer to date that has been able to sell more than 10 million foldable smartphones. In total, the South Korean company has launched 9 folding cell phones to date.
The absolute bestseller among folding smartphones so far is the Galaxy Z Flip 3 , which Samsung introduced last year. The folding cell phone was sold 4.6 million times. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is also successful, but a good deal behind the Flip 3. Samsung was able to sell 2.5 million devices from this model.
Within the foldable category, at least for the time being, there is a clear winner. The majority of buyers prefer smartphones that can be folded into a smaller cell phone . On the other hand, smartphones that open up into a mini-tablet are not as popular.
What makes the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 so special:
Samsung aims high when it comes to foldable smartphones
At the end of last year it was announced that Samsung had set itself high goals for the next generation of its folding smartphones. In 2022, the group wants to produce around 10 million devices - and certainly sell them. In addition to the S-Class and A-Class, the Galaxy Z series is likely to become the third mainstay for Samsung smartphones .
