Android Auto: The end of smartphones is here
The end of Android Auto on smartphones is here. Google announced this move a long time ago. After the warning message when starting the app was already visible in the last few weeks, it is now finally over.
Android Auto can now only be used via the displays of connected cars. Or as Assistant Driving Mode then on the smartphone. The step was inevitable, after all, Android Auto has been on the smartphone since 2015 and was getting on in years.
Google had already phased out Android Auto for phones running Android 12 and later in 2021, but earlier versions of the operating system could still use the app on the phone.
Saying goodbye is certainly difficult for some users, but you've gotten used to it. But the new Assistant Driving Mode is more up-to-date, modern and significantly better. The pain of parting shouldn't last long.
