Xiaomi 13: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 under discussion again

After Qualcomm launched the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, many next-gen flagship phones are expected to launch with the new chipset. The real successor to the flagship SoC will probably be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is said to feature a unique cluster configuration. While the existing 8 Gen 1 chips have a 1+3+4 core configuration, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will have a 1+2+2+3 configuration.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will reportedly have one Makalu-gen core, another cluster of two Makalu-gen cores, followed by two Matterhorn cores and three Klein R1 cores. Now, the Xiaomi 13 is reported to be one of the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, codenamed SM8550-Kailua.

The new chipset will also feature an Adreno 740 GPU and will be manufactured on TSMC's advanced 4nm process node. The new flagship SoC could then celebrate its premiere in the Xiaomi 13.
