What is VoLTE and how can you activate it on your Xiaomi
In recent years, phone calls have evolved to achieve great sound quality. So much so that today we can find technologies such as VoLTE allowing us to make voice calls in high definition on our Xiaomi.
Beyond the classic GSM networks, movistar, vodafone and other operators have integrated this technology, which in turn derives from the advantages of Internet access. Thanks to 4G or LTE networks, VoLTE allows us to make not only high-definition calls, but also to improve consumption and add other services .
What is VoLTE and what are its advantages after activating it on a Xiaomi
In detail, VoLTE is a technology capable of transmitting voice communications over the Internet . For this, whether we have a Redmi Note 8 Pro, a Xiaomi Mi A2 or any other smartphone from the firm, our voice will be encoded from analog to digital allowing its transmission in the form of packets through the network.
With this, as we have already said, after activating VoLTE we will achieve higher sound quality thanks to its high sampling and speed of up to 13 kbps , (a traditional call usually does not exceed 8kbps), achieving greater clarity and sharpness .
In turn, VoLTE has a reduced energy consumption compared to other high definition voice technologies such as VoIP calls or through applications such as Skype, Viper, WhatsApp, etc.
In turn, since it is an analog signal, it allows it to be transmitted through WiFi networks and implement other added services that improve the calling experience compared to the traditional phone calls that we could make on a Xiaomi or other smartphone.
How to activate VoLTE on your Xiaomi
So you can activate VoLTE on your Xiaomi.
VoLTE is generally disabled on our Xiaomi smartphones. To activate VoLTE on a Xiaomi , Redmi or POCO we only have to do the following steps:
- Dial * # * # 86583 # * # *. After that, the message " VoLTE Carrier check was disabled " will appear, thus activating VoLTE on our Xiaomi.
- Next we will go to Settings> SIM cards and mobile networks
- Once inside we will activate the option Use VoLTE .
- If our Xiaomi is a Dual SIM smartphone, the VoLTE option will be found in Settings> SIM cards and mobile networks> SIM1 / SIM2.
After activating VoLTE in our Xiaomi we can make voice calls in high definition through 4G, LTE or WiFi networks. That if everything depends on our coverage and if our operator has this service.

DeleteThere are modem configuration files (mcfg_sw.mbn) for different operators in different countries. It looks like that Vodafone VoLTE is supported in these european countries: Deutschland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and UK.
